When the world seems so dark...

Do you ever get overwhelmed with all the negativity in this world?

It seems like everywhere we turn its bad news waiting for us.

As a parent I find it hard to imagine what the future will bring for our children.

I often think... what would this world be if we were only able to focus on the positive?

After speaking with many of you I’ve gathered that these things matter most to you in terms of food:

  • knowing your farmer and trusting your farmer
  • keeping your $ local
  • buying meat from humanely raised animals

As we’re putting the final touches on our 2017 season I was reflecting back on our year and it dawned on me that it’s really about even more.

It’s about leaving our world a better place for our children and grandchildren.  And this kind of farming makes that possible.  Let me explain...

We were fortunate enough to visit a very influential rancher, Gabe Brown, in North Dakota this summer.

The incredible work he (and many others) are doing is proving that with properly managed pastures and livestock we can actually decrease atmospheric carbon and help reverse our dilemma of climate change.

By raising our animals without cancer causing chemicals & GMOs we can create a more robust generation of healthy individuals.

By using farming practices that do not require constant antibiotics we can help eliminate “superbugs” that have the potential to threaten our very existence.

And that is what it’s all about. Making changes for the greater good.

I’d be lying if I said we didn’t have doubts about some of the crazy ideas we have or we haven’t been scared that we’re going to fall flat on our faces.

But we’re learning to embrace this path because we know this opportunity has been put in front of us for a reason.

The argument is always “You’ll never be able to feed the world this way!”

We know we will never be able to feed the world and that’s not our intention.  Our goal is to provide our community with nourishing, wholesome food and hopefully inspire others to join us along the way.

From all of us at Nature’s Pantry - THANK YOU - for another great year.  We couldn’t do this without you. Without your continued support our dream wouldn’t amount to anything.

I know it’s easier to buy your milk and eggs at the grocery store instead of making a trip out to the farm. I often wonder if I could be half as dedicated as some of you.  This world we live in is a busy one so thank you for making time to support us.

In a world full of darkness, I urge you to be the light we so desperately need.  Be the change you want to see.

God bless you and your family!

Sarah
